A Glance
From Shiptons, you skirt the high
peaks to the east in the counter clockwise
direction, bypassing Kami and Two-tarn
huts as you marvel at the splendid view
of the rocky towers, tarns and suspended
glaciers of the west face of Batian
peak to attempt the summit from Mackinders
camp in the Teleki valley and eventually
returning back on the Sirimon route
once again. Camping on this itinerary
is unnecessary unless preferred.
Detailed itinerary
Day
1:Nairobi - Sirimon Park Gate to Old
Moses
Depart from your hotel or airport
and be transferred to Sirimon Park gate
and hike through montane forest, bamboo
and rosewood up to the OldMoses Hut,
gaining an elevation range of 700m in
3-4 hours.
Dinner and Overnight-OldMoses Hut (3300m)
Day
2: Old Moses to Shiptons Camp
Leaving early, traverse the expansive
moorlands carpeted with tussock grasses
and dotted with the unique Giant lobelia
and Senecio plants, crossing streams
and valleys. largely through the Mackinder
Valley, with good views of the main
peaks and a brief stopover for picnic
lunch. Total walking time is approx.
7 hours gaining 900m in altitude to
arrive at the Shiptons Hut.
Dinner and Overnight-Shiptons Hut (4200m)
Day
3:Shiptons -Peak Circuit to Mackinders
Camp
Depart at 0800hrs and ascend up
to the Hausberg col (4700m) on the Summit
Circuit Path then descend steeply to
Hausberg valley and Oblong tarns before
making a further steep ascent, crossing
huge boulders on the way to Mackinders
camp (4,300m) in the Teleki Valley.
Hiking time about 6 hours.

Day
4: Mackinders Camp - Point Lenana
- Shipton's
Leave the camp at 0300hrs and hike up
the steep scree slopes and across rocks
up to Point Lenana (4985m), the hikers‚
summit, gaining 685m in altitude in
3-4 hours. Later descend back to Shipton‚s
camp (4200m) for breakfast then relax
for the rest of the day.

Day
5:Shiptons Camp to Sirimon Gate
Early breakfast then descend up to the
Sirimon Gate (3000m) to connect with
our vehicle for transfer back to Nairobi
for your next destination.
